Bet I got your attention, didn’t I? Man was it difficult to find a decent pic of Paris, hahaha.

But seriously, the three lovely ladies in the above montage are all trying to prove that in the current musical world where scruffy indie bands rule, they are more than just a pretty face. Just who comes up tops?

fergie_thedutchess.jpgLet’s start off with Stacy Ferguson, better known as Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. The powerful, distinctive voice behind monster hits (but bloody annoying, nevertheless) such as “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and “My Humps” (heheh) has decided that she really didn’t need those ugly blokes holding her down, and released her debut album The Dutchess. The 15 tracks all sound fit for the dancefloor, but somehow, it’s kinda like eating sugar cubes: sure it makes the coffee taste better, but on its own… slight overkill. The singles “Fergalicious” and “London Bridges” will probably do well at the clubs, but it’s not the sort of album you’ll be talking about in a year or two.

On the other side of the world (both geographically and musically) is the lovely Scottish lass KT Tunstall. First emerging a few years back with the pretty annoying “Black Horse And The Cherry Tree”, I was pretty turned off until I saw how she looked like (wahaha) and also heard the rest of her debut album Eye To The Telescope. Now, fresh from winning Best British Female Artist at the 2006 Brit Awards, she’s also put out an album of stripped-down acoustic numbers that showcase her unique pipes and raw energy. My recommendation: the album opener “Ashes”, that includes the line “f*** you little princess, who do you think you are are?” Very folksy, very nice, heheh. KT’s currently working with Travis on their next album… that should be worth waiting for!

And speaking of little princesses… here’s one of the richest 25-year-olds on the planet! Showing once and for all that money can buy you anything, everyone’s favourite slut socialite Paris Hilton hires the best producers that money can buy, and actually sounds almost as good as she looks on the album cover! Lead single “Stars Are Blind” could very well be the summer Club Med-esque hit of the year, and naughty songs like “I Want You” just trigger all sorts of images in your filthy little mind, haha. You may mock her for her shamelessness… but hey, the lady’s got lots of moolah to throw around, so there!
